Barun Winery is a family-owned boutique winery founded by Mara and Josip Barundić in the scenic Bregovita Hrvatska region. With roots in France, their passion for wine blossomed from childhood and continued to flourish upon their return to Croatia.
Barundić Winery is located in Krašić, a picturesque part of the Bregovita Hrvatska region. Known for its scenic beauty and rolling hills, the area provides the perfect environment for cultivating premium grape varieties, particularly suited for sparkling wine production.
The history of Barun Winery began when Joseph-Stephan Špoljar Barundić moved from France to Croatia in the 1990s and started helping his grandparents in their vineyard. Thirteen years ago, he and his family decided to take winemaking more seriously and since have been actively developing their winemaking business. Their journey into sparkling wine production was inspired by their experiences in France, and in 2013, their first sparkling wine won the award for the best continental sparkling wine. Since then, they have won numerous awards, and their dedication to producing high-quality wines continues to grow.
The Barundić family owns vineyards in the Valley of Cardinals, about three kilometers from Krašić, covering a total of 5 hectares. They cultivate a variety of grape types, including Pinot Noir, Graševina, White and Yellow Muscat, Chardonnay, and traditional local varieties such as Lipovina, Štajerska Belina, Kraljevina, Plavec Žuti, and Plemenka. At the end of the year, the family introduced their sparkling wine “100+”, made from grapes grown in a 100-year-old vineyard, which they purchased in Hrženik 26 years ago. This vineyard produces more intense and concentrated wines, as older vines yield fewer but richer grapes.
Located in the hilly landscape of Bregovita Hrvatska, Barun Winery has revitalized its ancestral vineyards in the picturesque “Valley of the Cardinals” in Krašić. This region is known for its beautiful terrain and ideal conditions for viticulture, allowing us to craft wines that express the unique character of the land.

The flagship sparkling wine, 100+ Brut Nature, is crafted from grapes harvested from a vineyard over 100 years old, embodying the hard work, love, and success that define the family’s legacy. Visitors can explore the full range of sparkling wines, including Elegance – Extra Brut, Le Rose – Brut, Amourex – Extra Sec, and 100+ – Brut Nature.
