Pavlomir Winery, an estate established in the 1990s, where a passion for viticulture has been nurtured across generations. Situated within the Kvarner region, the winery has built a reputation for crafting wines that capture the distinct character of the area. With a strong foundation in tradition, Pavlomir Winery continues to uphold its commitment to quality winemaking.

Location

Pavlomir Winery is located in the Vinodol Valley, a historic wine-growing region in the Primorje area of Croatia. This fertile valley, whose name derives from the Roman term “Vallis Vineari,” boasts a rich viticultural history that dates back to ancient times.

The Story

The history of wine in the Vinodol Valley has been marked by both triumph and adversity. Vineyards flourished during the Roman era but faced numerous challenges over the centuries, including geopolitical upheaval and the devastation of grape phylloxera at the end of the 19th century. The revitalization of the area began in 1994, led by Andrija Biro and Miroslav Palinkaš, who brought their winemaking expertise to the valley. Miroslav Palinkaš, whose family has deep roots in grape and wine production, focused on restoring the region’s winemaking tradition. Today, the winery combines centuries-old heritage with modern techniques, resulting in wines that are acclaimed on both national and international stages.

Vineyard

Pavlomir Winery encompasses 40 hectares of land, with 31 hectares dedicated to vineyards. The winery emphasizes the local autochthonous variety, Žlahtina, and also produces popular varietals such as Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Frankovka, and Pinot Blanc. Among its standout offerings are the sparkling wines “1288” and “San Marino,” the latter being a unique sparkling wine made from the Žlahtina grape. The winery’s commitment to quality and tradition is reflected in the numerous awards it has received at wine fairs and competitions, celebrating its place among the best in the world. Visitors can enjoy tastings in the newly established wine cellar and tasting room, where they can savor the fruits of this remarkable winemaking journey.
