The Tomac family has been dedicated to winemaking for over a century, with their first bottles filled in 1987. Their commitment to quality was recognized in 1996 when they received prestigious accolades for their Chardonnay at the Chardonnay du Monde competition in France and a silver medal for their Classic sparkling wine at the Vinalies d’Argent in Paris. Since then, the family has expanded their vineyards to cover six hectares while maintaining their unique style and traditional methods. In 2006, they embraced ancient winemaking practices by introducing the use of amphorae for fermentation, sourcing these vessels from Georgia. The first bottles of this amphora-aged wine were released in 2009, marking a significant milestone in their winemaking journey.
Tomac Winery cultivates six hectares of vineyards located in carefully selected sites across Plešivica, a region renowned for its ideal conditions for viticulture. Their vineyards, situated at various altitudes and benefiting from diverse microclimates, allow for the cultivation of varieties such as Rhine Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, as well as indigenous Plešivica grapes. The Tomac family focuses on organic farming methods, combining centuries-old tradition with innovative practices in the cellar, including amphora fermentation.
